Graphite and pigment – 00007
$1,320
Original graphite and pigment artwork by Luis Mandiola. A contemporary piece reflecting on our future on Earth through line, contrast, and atmosphere.
Graphite and Pigment 00007 is an original drawing on paper in which two facing figures are seen through a narrow internal division. Executed in graphite and pigment, the work employs a warm-cold contrast—one form resolved in ochre and terracotta, the other in a cold bluish-gray—to create a tension that is both visual and psychological. Mandiola draws the profiles with precision and economy: each contour is sufficient, carrying both anatomical reference and emotional weight.
The neutral background houses both forms without privileging either, creating a space of open confrontation. This work is part of a group in which the encounter between two figures—or between two aspects of the same figure—becomes the central theme. The graphite line mediates between the warm and cold registers, granting the composition a graphic clarity that allows the tonal contrast to achieve its full strength.
The pigment is applied with restraint, functioning more as a chromatic statement than a simple surface enrichment. The result is a composition of contained intensity: small in scale, substantial in presence. An original and unique work by the Chilean artist Luis Mandiola.
“Technique: Graphite and pigment on paper. Year 1996. 20.1 x 13.8 in.”
The work is available as a unique original piece, part of a significant collection of contemporary drawing.
