Graphite, ink and pigment on paper – 00010
$1,320
Graphite, ink, and pigment on paper artwork by Chilean artist Luis Mandiola Uribe, featuring detailed drawing, subtle tonal contrasts, and a contemplative atmosphere.
Graphite, ink, and pigment on paper 00010 is a landscape drawing in which a row of cypresses forms a vertical screen in front of a classical domed structure. The cypresses, rendered with precise, upward strokes of graphite and ink, create a rhythm across the horizontal surface that is simultaneously architectural and organic. The dome rising behind them anchors the composition within the tradition of Western pictorial space, while the density of the trees introduces an element of intimacy and contemplative distance.
Mandiola’s treatment of the subject is restrained: there is no dramatization of light, nor anecdotal details, only the essential relationship between the vertical form of the plant and the built structure. Pigment is used sparingly to warm the background and differentiate tonal zones, while the graphite line defines form with a precision that draws from both technical drawing and observational study.
This work belongs to a branch of Mandiola’s artistic practice that explores the relationship between natural and built space, a recurring theme in his drawings, ceramics, and paintings. An original and unique work by Chilean artist Luis Mandiola.
The work is available as an original on paper. It represents a significant example of Mandiola’s constant engagement with the tradition of the classical landscape, reinterpreted through contemporary drawing practice.
