The wind and the thoughts – 00002
$1,120
Original graphite and acrylic artwork on paper by Luis Mandiola. A contemporary poetic piece exploring gesture, line, and emotion.
“The Wind and Thoughts” (El viento y los pensamientos) is an original drawing on paper in which the human figure becomes the stage for an interior movement. A profile, rendered in graphite and acrylic, captures a moment of suspension: the body held still while something internal unfolds. The stroke is neither decorative nor illustrative; each mark records a decision, a pressure, a direction. Mandiola works from the figure outward, allowing the surrounding space to acquire its own weight.
This drawing invites the viewer’s reflection rather than presenting a definitive image. The graphite surface reveals its own creation, with tonal shifts that generate depth without resorting to conventional modeling. The paper both absorbs and resists the marks in equal measure. The result is an image that is simultaneously intimate and open: a record of a psychological state rather than a physical representation.
In Mandiola’s work, wind and thoughts are intertwined: forces flowing through the figure, invisible and contained, present in the quality of every stroke. An original and unique work by the Chilean artist Luis Mandiola.
